Caucuses

Knights for Social Justice is split into multiple caucuses, each with their own leader and inequality focus. Read more about them below.


Criminal Justice Reform

Mission Statement

Take a stand against criminal injustice from a wide variety of perspectives including justice for victims, prison reform, and protest participation.

Example Activities

Work on local Progressive campaigns; collective action weeks; on/off campus marches and protests; legislation training sessions; petitioning

Political Action

Mission Statement

The goal is to have the political action caucus a primary motivator in the local community and on our school campus. This would be done by encouraging the fight for social justice and promoting legislators who share the same visions as us, while also continuing to educate students on social reform and civil liberties.

Women’s & Gender

Mission Statement

The mission of the Women’s & Gender Equality Caucus is the advancement and empowerment of women and girls in our community–and wherever else we can help.

Example Activities

Providing menstrual supplies to women and girls in need; promote volunteer opportunities with Planned Parenthood, such as clinic escorting; work with community programs that empower girls

LGBTQ

Mission Statement

To address the various issues in the LGBT community through education and activism.

Example Activities

Volunteering and fundraising for local LGBT groups/centers such as the Central Florida Zebra Coalition and The LGBT Center Orlando, as well as promoting education, such as through UCF Safe Zone training.

Environmental Justice

Mission Statement

The Environmental Caucus of Knights for Social Justice seeks to examine, discuss, inform, and act to create positive change in regards instances of environmental and animal related injustice in local and national communities.

Example Activities

Spreading awareness; participating in clean ups; spread awareness regarding pet adoption and helping animal adoption organizations; writing letters to representatives urging for responsible care of environmental issues; natural disaster aid such as food drives; recycling initiative

Mission Statement

To destroy the stereotypes among the status quo communities and to collaborate on mentoring the wellness and educating adolescents into becoming productive adults in society.
